April 2025 Challenges
As we wrap up April and Global Intergenerational Week, let’s focus on making intergenerational connections sustainable for the future. This week, we reflect on how to create lasting change, ensuring that intergenerational collaboration continues to thrive long after this month. Together, we can build a legacy that connects and strengthens all generations for years to come.
Activities for the Week:
✅ Intergenerational Pledge for Sustainability: Think about one thing you can do to ensure that intergenerational connections continue to grow in your life or community. It could be a small step like committing to regularly visit an older neighbour or setting up a group to share knowledge across generations.
Example: “I pledge to set up a monthly intergenerational meet-up at my local community centre, where people from different age groups can share stories, learn from each other, and build stronger bonds.”
🔹 What’s your pledge for fostering intergenerational connection and sustainability? Post your commitment and inspire others to take action!
✅ Vision for the Future: Think about the future and how we can ensure that intergenerational connections continue to thrive in our communities. What ideas or strategies do you have to make sure these relationships are supported and nurtured over time?
Example: “In my community, I envision a program where young people and older adults can work together on community projects, like creating a shared art space or organising local events. This would encourage ongoing interaction and help foster understanding between generations.”
🔹What’s your vision for sustaining intergenerational connections long-term in your community? Share your ideas with us!
✅ Advocacy in Action: Reflect on how we can continue promoting intergenerational sustainability beyond April. Consider what initiatives can be sustained or expanded in your community as we move into the next theme.
Example: “I believe we should advocate for more local intergenerational events, such as mentorship programs or cooking classes, that allow people of all ages to come together, learn, and grow. This would help foster lifelong learning and mutual respect.”
🔹 How can we ensure intergenerational sustainability beyond April in our communities? Share your thoughts on how we can continue to build on this momentum into the next month!
